Unmittelbare Ergebnisse des Angriffs vom 27. November 1944
Die nachrichtendienstliche Zusammenfassung (Intops Summary) No 211
stellt unter Punkt C: ,Intelligence' weiterhin fest:
„Due to low cloud over western Germany and Holland, the enemy apparently mistook the
fighters penetrating over the Zuider Zee for the main bombing effort. As a result of this,
a maximum all-out effort was put by the GAF [German Air Force, d. Aut.] against an imagi-
nary bomber penetration, while the actual bombers attacked targets in SW Germany comple-
tely unmolested."153
Zu den Beschädigungen an Feindeinrichtungen stellten die Luffbildauswer-
ter fest:
„Offenburg-Good Results
From the first wave of bombers over the target, five concentrations of GP and IB bombs are
seen bursting on the central portion of the railroad and M/Y in the vicinity of the northbound
and southbound sorting sidings. One intense explosion was noted which quickly covered the
target with smoke making pinpointing of all strikes impossible. Many GP bombs ans IB
bombs, however, could be seen in this area and damage will be severe. One concentration
covered the northern choke point of the M/Y. Of the three road over-rail bridges, two will
definitely be affected. The southern bridge received at least two direct hits with three hits
on the eastern approach, the central bridge, one hit on the western approach. The concentration
covering the third bridge is partially cloud obscured which makes definite pinpointing
impossible. However, there is a good probability that it will be damaged. One concentration
of approximately 100 bombs feil in the northeastern portion of the town areas. Slight damage
can be expected since only a few strikes were noted in a barracks area and this area is slightly
built-up. Five concentrations could be seen in open areas immediately adjacent to the
western side of the M/Y.
Strike attack photographs of the second force over the target are largely unobserved due to
large quantity of smoke left by the preceding attack. Two heavy explosions developed in the
smoke pall during the attack and heavy fires were burning as the a/c [aircraft, d. Aut.] left
the target."154
